Gwent Wildlife Trust (GWT) have organised a great day out for all the family this Saturday, (July 14) with our Grand Summer Funday, at Magor Marsh nature reserve.

Event organiser and GWT’s Senior Education Officer Kathy Barclay welcomes families along saying that staff, volunteers and local community groups will all be on hand to help people get closer to the wonderful wildlife and heritage of the Gwent Levels.

Kathy said: “Our Grand Summer Funday offers a glorious opportunity for all ages to enjoy some family time in the great outdoors.”

During the GWT event there will be pond dipping, bug hunting, bird watching, guided tours and much more.

Kathy added: “Thanks to our involvement in the Heritage-Lottery funded Living Levels Landscape Partnership which celebrates the unique Gwent Levels landscape and heritage, there will be a storyteller telling tales of myths and legends of the Gwent levels. You can marvel at the beauty of the natural environment and see in person otters, frogs and newts.

“Our heritage skills will be celebrated too – with lave nets and wood craft opportunities including making your own crane! (the bird, not the machine!). And there’ll also be plenty of refreshments available to buy, if you can bear to take a break from your outdoor adventures!”

GWT’s Grand Summer Funday runs from 2pm-5pm on Saturday (July 14).
Admission is £2 per adult, £1 for children or £5 per family. Simply turn up on the day or for more details contact Kathy Barclay on 01633 889048.

Magor Marsh Reserve is easy to get to on foot from Magor village and there will be Funday signs up on the day. The number x74 bus stops nearby and if you come by car there is free car parking at the reserve. The postcode for the reserve is NP26 3DD.
