Why we say no to mega solar developments on the Gwent Levels SSSIs

Gwent Wildlife Trust oppose all development proposals on protected Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) as they are the jewels in the crown of Gwent’s wildlife heritage.

Whilst we support renewable energy, we believe it must be the right development in the right place. SSSIs, including the unique Gwent Levels SSSI, should not be developed as we cannot destroy the environment to save the environment.

There are tens of thousands of acres of land throughout Wales which are much more suited to solar farms than SSSIs.
