Pontypool Wild Spaces Abuzz!

Pontypool Wild Spaces Abuzz!

In partnership with Pontypool Community Council, the Pontypool Wild Spaces project is transforming urban green spaces into vibrant wildlife havens, designed by the community, for the community.

One of our most exciting projects this autumn has been gaining momentum in Pontypool town centre, where the energy of local youth and volunteers is creating a real buss.

The Pontypool Wild Spaces project brings together a dedicated volunteer team caring for the spaces, a youth group of nature enthusiasts and a series of public events to explore Pontypool's local wildlife.

So far, residents have enjoyed hands-on activities such as constructing bee hotels, creating wildflower seed bombs, and building bird feeders. Upcoming events include bird nest box making and a bat walk, offering even more opportunities to connect with nature.

The Pontypool Pioneers youth group has been actively involved, from birdwatching and bat walks in Pontypool Park to litter pickling and wildlife surveys in the town centre. Thanks to their efforts and those of our volunteers, the first Wild Space is beginning to take shape, with native wildflowers planted and a striking new bee hotel installed. This eye-catching feature is just one of any improvements helping to make the town centre more welcoming to vital pollinators.
