Please join us for our AGM & Autumn Showcase. We will be joined by some of the county's top ecologists about the wildlife in your local area.

Speakers will include:

Ian Thomas, Wild Health Officer, GWT
With a varied background in outdoor education, youth justice, landscaping and music, Ian has worked for numerous organisations both locally and nationally. These include Youth Inclusion, Funky Dragon and Come Outside. Vastly experienced in supporting mental health, learning difficulty groups and acting as a conduit for progressional learning and improvements in health and wellbeing. Ian will be presenting an inspiring new short film he has created about our Wild Health project work.

Marilyn Lewis, GWT Volunteer
Marilyn Lewis is a heritage and historic environment professional, most recently working as Director of Cadw (now retired.) With a longstanding and keen interest in wildlife, she has participated in many GWT courses, including training in monitoring and handling Hazel Dormice. Marilyn has been a volunteer for GWT and WTSWW since 2014. 

Kathy Barclay, Senior Education Officer, GWT
Kathy Barclay has worked for GWT since 2007 in her role as Senior Education officer at Magor Marsh. Soon after she set up Wildlife Warriors youth group now in its 9th year. We thought you may like to know more about what we get up to. We also need sponsorship next year to continue the project!

Dr Steph Tyler, Ecologist
Former Conservation Officer of GWT 1980-84, then Conservation Officer Wales for RSPB for 12 years (before moving to Botswana) Steph is now BSBI Joint VC Recorder for plants with Elsa Wood, Chair of Monmouthshire Meadows Group and when not out birding or botanising has been studying river birds in the lower Wye Catchment for 40 years. Steph will be talking about Dippers, Grey Wagtails and other river birds in her study area and mention their changing fortunes.

Elsa Wood, Ecologist
A retired ecologist, currently joint BSBI recorder for Monmouthshire, co-author of 'Grassland Fungi' and Chairman of the Trust for 6 years. Elsa is going to talk briefly on interesting plant finds in the county in 2018.

Andy Karran, Senior Ecologst, GWT
Andy is GWT’s Wildlife Sites Officer, he will be talking about our network of Local Wildlife Sites and particularly the work over recent years to update survey work and assist landowners.  

Shortlisted photographs from our annual competition will be displayed. The judges of our photo competition: Chris Mattison, Chris Hatch and Andy Karran will be annoucing the winner and presenting prizes.
