Volunteer with us to meet new people, develop new skills, gain valuable experience and benefit the wildlife in your area.

Volunteers are crucial to the success of our work to promote and protect local wildlife. There are lots of different opportunities to get involved. If you have some spare time, you can help make a difference!

We aim to protect and enhance the wildlife of Gwent, draw attention to conservation issues through publicity and campaigns, and encourage public enjoyment and awareness of the countryside. Management of nature reserves forms only part of our work; we also offer help and advice to industry, local authorities, landowners, schools and members of the public, to encourage the conservation and appreciation of all wildlife, both common and rare.
Education is fundamental to the future of the environment.

Much of the Trust’s work wouldn’t be possible without our volunteers and we very much appreciate this valuable contribution. There’s a huge variety of volunteer work to get involved in – practical conservation work, species and site surveying, inspiring the next generation about wildlife or helping at events are just some of them.

Everyone is welcome; whether you’re looking for work experience or to share your experiences, we would love to hear from you, regardless of the amount of time you have available.

Don't worry if you are not an expert - we will provide the training you need. View our range of training opportunities here.

Work Experience

For those looking to boost their CV with some new skills or are in need of some first had experience in the environmental sector, we have a range of opportunities to offer. As well as informal and formal training available to volunteers, we also offer trainee placements. If you are requesting work experience for a school placement, please state the school and area you are from. Please get in touch to find out more - info@gwentwildlife.org.
