Gwent Living Churchyards Project, 2007-2010

Working with individuals, groups and Local Authorities across Gwent to inspire and educate about our rich churchyard heritage……..

Work included:

  • Delivery of training programme attended by 550+ people
  • Interest from 75+ churchyards
  • Baseline wildlife surveys and management plans for 25 key sites plus advice & support for many others!
  • 20+ project officer talks
  • 10+ successful grant applications supported
  • Annual minibus visits to Living Churchyards in action
  • Support for local churchyard open days & events (e.g. rake & bake days)
  • Input into revised Church in Wales guidance on churchyard management
