Thank you to everyone who is supporting local nature as a member of Gwent Wildlife Trust. Your regular monthly or annual donations bring reliable income that we can plan around, enabling commitment to long-term programmes - vital for effective conservation. Your committed giving also keeps our fundraising costs lower, so more of each pound goes directly to protect and restore the wildlife you love.

We’re making a small increase to our minimum membership fees in April.

You may well have heard about the increasing financial challenges for charities; we outlined how these are affecting Gwent Wildlife Trust in recent issues of Wild About Gwent. Meanwhile, our work for nature and wildlife only becomes more greater and crucial as we face the nature crisis in Wales.

This is our first increase in minimum membership for over ten years and the additional donations will help us cover the cost of running our membership services and ensure more of your donation goes directly to the conservation work you want to support.

From 1st April 2026, if your current regular donation is below the new minimum, we’ll increase it from your next payment or renewal date as shown below. (For example if you donate monthly, your donation will increase from 6th April. If you donate annually, it will increase when your next payment is due after 1st April.) If you pay by Direct Debit and are happy with the new rate, you don’t need to do anything.  We’ll send you an updated Advance Notice as part of the Direct Debit Guarantee.  If you pay annually by another method, we’ll let you know the new rate when your renewal comes around.

If you’d prefer to keep your donation at the current amount, please tell us as soon as possible and we can opt you out of the increase. We need to know by 30th March 2026 absolute latest in order to ensure your April donation is not changed. We're so grateful for your ongoing support – every contribution makes a difference.

You can tell us by emailing me, Lois Holroyd, on info@gwentwildlife.org or by calling 01600 740600 / mobile: 07769 245371 (Monday to Thursday)

New minimum membership subscription rates:

Individual membership: £3.50 monthly, £42 annually

Joint membership: £4 monthly, £48 annually

Family membership: £5 monthly, £60 annually

Thanks again for being part of the growing community of over 8,000 members in Gwent and over 944,000 Wildlife Trust members in the UK, helping protect wildlife for future generations. Your membership helps protect and manage 28 nature reserves in Gwent, enables vital conservation work to safeguard our wonderful local wildlife and strengthens our ability to advocate for nature locally and nationally.
