About the event

Join us at our Environmental Resource Centre to learn basic bumblebee identification and how to participate in the national BeeWalk survey, a scheme organised by the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. By the end of the session, hopefully you will feel confident in registering to carry out your own BeeWalk Survey, either on one of our reserves or in a local green space near you!

What to expect: We will meet at the Environmental Resource Center, Ebbw Vale (Steel Works Road, The Works, Ebbw Vale, NP23 6AL, SO173085, w.3.w. again.steps.tight). After a short talk on the 8 common bumblebees of Gwent and how to set up a survey transect, we will head out onto Central Valley reserve to practice what we have learnt. We will return to the car park for around 1pm. There are facilities on site. We will aim to finish around 1pm. There are facilities on site.

What to bring: Please wear sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather. A camera/mobile phone may be useful for photographing bee's to ID.

Please note that this is weather dependant and will only go ahead in dry conditions.

We will be walking on uneven ground at points, spending at least 90 minutes on our feet out on the reserve.

This event is suitable for 16+.

No dogs allowed.
