Come to us

We offer a wide range of curriculum and wellbeing-linked full and half-day visits at the Derek Upton Centre, Magor Marsh or Environmental Resource Centre, Ebbw Vale.

Find out about the Wonders of Water, how the creatures have adapted to their environment and how they can be used to indicate the health of a water system.  From the fascinating water scorpions to the scary looking diving beetle larva, the pond is a world full of surprises and wonder.

Marvellous Minibeasts is an insight to the creatures hidden beneath our feet, under logs and in trees.  What are the identification features of an insect?  Learn to use a key to help you with identification.  Collect data by conducting a tally of the creatures you find.s

Explore and compare different Healthy Habitats and the plants/creatures living in them. How are they adapted to life in that habitat? Look at food chains and food webs within specific habitats.

Let us come to you

Our experienced staff can lead in-school workshops. We will explore your school grounds, discovering and learning about the habitats and species that live there. Working with your students, we can discuss how to make your school even more wildlife friendly.

Looking for a talk instead? We also offer talks to inspire young people to help wildlife and be more environmentally friendly at school and at home.
