About the Trainers:

Both Natalie Waller and Kathy Barclay work for Gwent Wildlife Trust but are associate trainers to Cambium Sustainable.  Between them they have 23 years of  outdoor learning experience and are both Level 4 Agored Cymru accredited Forest School Trainers.

The Cambium Network has trainers in many parts of the UK. We cooperate in Continuing Professional Development, standardisation of assessment and feedback, submission of work for accreditation to Agored Cymru (Formerly OCN Wales) awarding body and internal and external quality assurance.
Trainers meet regularly to discuss the latest developments, and to exchange ideas, skills and techniques and to play for the future. Most members of the Cambium Network provide services direct to schools and other bodies wishing to engage with the expanding use of Forest School, Outdoor Learning and Coastal School techniques in early years, primary and secondary education.

If you would like to discuss any of the courses above please feel free to contact them.

Fresh air, fun, exercise, ideas and increased confidence, come as a standard part of all our courses! Sturdy shoes are required as well as suitable clothing for the time of year: The reserve, where our courses are run, is rather exposed, so when it is windy, it is very windy. When it is wet, it is very wet. When it is sunny .... got the picture? Our courses are generally very hands on and we invariably go out what ever the weather. You have been warned!

At Gwent Wildlife Trust, we realise that sometimes schools want to train whole departments / schools rather than just individual teachers. We are therefore pleased to offer an Outreach INSET service, where we will come to you and train staff in your own grounds. Alternatively, you may like to bring your whole staff to Magor Marsh for training! Both services have gone down very well in the past. One head said she “Wouldn’t spend her money anywhere else!”. If needed, many of our courses can be condensed into an after school staff meeting to reduce costs further, (though obviously we can’t cover as many activities in this limited time). Other advantages of this service include:
* Even better value for money: Full day’s Outreach INSET = £350 + VAT
Staff Meeting INSET = £150 + VAT.

* Tailor made Service: Given enough notice, we can tailor make the course to your school’s particular requirements.

* No Supply cover costs.

Please contact Petra or Kathy on 01633 889048  to discuss availability and to choose the course content that will suit your school setting.
