About the event

Gwent Wildlife Trust tutors (Kathy Barclay and Natalie Waller) will be delivering this Agored Cymru accredited course as associate trainers with Cambium Sustainable.
The course is designed for those who would like to set up and run Forest School sessions in their setting. Forest School is an holistic and child centred learning approach which fosters independent learning and promotes self esteem.
This practical and theoretical course is delivered over 8 days spread over 4 weeks. You will learn how to support learning in the outdoors, the theory and history of forest school, how to observe and evaluate yourself and others outside, how to use the natural environment sustainably and the practical skills which are involved in forest school including risk assessment, tool use and firelighting.
You will be expected to run a forest school programme on a local site and be observed delivering one of these sessions as well as completing a portfolio for submission. The expected completion date would be August 2021.
