The South East Wales Resilient Uplands (SEWRU) was a 3-year (2018-2021) collaborative project, led by Torfaen Council, and involving Gwent Wildlife Trust, Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent Councils, Natural Resources Wales, Police, Fire and Rescue Services, Gwent Wildlife Trust and the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Project Pine Marten is a pine marten reintroduction project run by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust in collaboration with Forestry England, Vincent Wildlife Trust, Woodland Trust, Forest Research and Forest Holidays. We're supporting the project and helping Pine Martens recovery in Gwent.

Reintroducing water voles to the Gwent Levels

By the early 2000s, water voles had disappeared from the Gwent Levels; a result of decades’ long habitat loss and predation by non-native American Mink.

Urgent action was needed to bring them back and thanks to the hard work of GWT staff, volunteers, landowners and partners, we are able to celebrate their return and be hopeful that they will reclaim their rightful place across Gwent’s wetlands.
