This training course is the nationally recognised standard of training required for individuals and businesses wishing to offer forest school programmes. The course is based on the 6 Forest School Principles and will give you the best start on your Forest School journey. It consists of five study units at Level 3:

  1. Supporting Learning, Play, and Development in Natural Environments
  2. Delivering Forest School
  3. Observing and Evaluating Forest School
  4. Sustainable Use and Management of Natural Resources
  5. Teaching Outdoor Practical Skills

You'll dive into both theoretical knowledge and lots of practical skills practice. As part of the course, you'll put together a Forest School Program for your own setting, complete a work-based assessment, and create a portfolio of evidence. This will take you 9 months to complete after the initial 8 days of training, with an anticipated completion date of 5th September 2026.

You’ll have lots of support from your tutor, who’s available by phone or email for any questions or guidance during your training.

By the end of this course, you’ll have the skills and understanding you need to inspire people through regular, long-term play and learning in nature.

Please note: You must have access to a small group of participants and a wooded site to run your initial program consisting of 6 Forest School sessions. This needs to be the same group over the 6 sessions and the group size must be no larger than 16. Please contact us if you are having difficulty meeting this requirement.

To book your space please use the link below. Please note that this will take you to an external website, the Cambium Sustainable booking system, as GWT are Associate Trainers of the Cambium Sustainable network.
