Grassland Fungi – A Focus on Waxcaps
New Grove Meadows,
LloyseyTrellech, Monmouth, Gwent
Ynglŷn â'r digwyddiad
Grassland fungi are good biological indicators as they are affected by many factors including chemical input (fertilisers and pesticides), air pollution, and habitat change including the growth of tall vegetation (changes in the grazing regime), the invasion of woody species (scrub encroachment), and also climate change (changes to the soil conditions brought about by climatic changes).
Join ecologist Andy along with experts from Monmouthshire Meadows Group leading a joint guided walk around our New Grove Meadows reserve, near Trellech, in which you will look at and learn how to identify the large array of grassland fungi at the site, including many iconic and colourful Waxcaps.
Find out more about these fascinating fungi and what their appearance might indicate for our reserves, the landscape and wildlife.
