An urban site formed from lime rich old spoil
heaps from the excavation of the Severn Road Tunnel railway.
There is a small area of chalk grassland with some developing
woodland.
Species
Plants favouring the lime rich soil include
the pink flowered centaury, the delicate fairy flax, quaking
grass and aromatic thymes. Marbled white butterflies can
be seen in summer, meadow ants have formed anthills and day
flying burnet moths are seen. Slow worms have been found
on the reserve.
