Press and Communications Officer

Salary: £21,012 - £23,884

Gwent Wildlife Trust are seeking an effective, creative communicator to work on varied campaigns of both national and local significance, inspiring and influencing a wide audience and championing the natural environment to people in Gwent. You will have an eye for a good story and the skills to translate it to reach and engage people through a variety of communications channels.

Full time, permanent (although part-time/job share will be considered)

Gwent Wildlife Trust (GWT) is a registered charity with over 9,000 members, and a leading local force for wildlife in Wales. Established over 50 years ago, we have a trusted reputation and strong track record in promoting and conserving Gwent’s wildlife. This post presents an effective, creative communicator with the opportunity to work on varied campaigns of both national and local significance, inspiring and influencing a wide audience and championing the natural environment to people in Gwent. You will raise awareness and support, while progressively improving organisational understanding of what works for different audiences.

You will have an eye for a good story and bags of creativity to adapt ideas and issues into engaging content that builds support for GWT.

You will have a mature outlook and be able to work collaboratively and sensitively, as the role involves working across internal teams and with a diverse range of external stakeholders.

And you will have a working knowledge of the mechanics of effective communications, particularly relating to the work of the Wildlife Trusts and wider environmental sector, including press relations and social media.
