Plant your Money ... We’ll Help it Grow!
Have your donation to Gwent Wildlife Trust
multiplied by up to ten times in the GWT MATCH FUND.
Gwent Wildlife Trust needs to raise £15,000 to
carry out crucial work. We have three Landfill Communities Fund
applications pending which total over £105,000 and we need to
raise £15,000 in order to unlock these funds. These applications
will allow us to carry out valuable conservation, education and habitat
works. In these increasingly difficult economic times, it is essential
that the protection and conservation of Gwent’s wildlife do not lose
out. Thanks to the generosity of some of our members, we have already
raised nearly £6,000 towards this important appeal.
But we need your help: please DONATE NOW
For Wildlife
The habitats and wildlife of Gwent are facing greater
dangers than ever before. Sadly, pressures on our already fragile
environment will only increase in years to come. Your donation will help
protect over 360 hectares of sensitive, species-rich grassland, ancient
woodlands and marshes. It will help us conserve delicate ecosystems and
threatened species such as dormice and water vole.
For People
Gwent Wildlife Trust is committed to introducing the
environment to a new generation. We need to continue to provide
facilities and experienced staff at our Magor Marsh Centre and the
Environmental Resource Centre (Ebbw Vale). We need to continue to engage
and train volunteers throughout the county and to make sure the beauty
of Gwent is available to everyone.

Projects we could help include
Pentwyn Farm will to
expand the area of flower-rich hay meadow we manage. This
project is an intensive programme of field boundary management
across the reserve which will involve coppicing, thinning wooded
areas, and reinstating old hedgerows.
Magor
Marsh is our most popular reserve with over 7000 annual
visitors and is one of our busy education centres. We need
to replace sections of old boardwalk on our circular trail,
preferably with stone paths. Our volunteer groups will be
helping us with this ambitious project. |

We have extended our stunning
Solutia Meadows
reserve. The new land supports grassland with a wide
spectrum of plant species such as southern marsh orchid and
grass vetchling.
The project will clear the overgrown reens and control the scrub along reen margins. This will
help sunlight reach the water surfaces and benefit the rare
aquatic invertebrates for which the Gwent Levels are renowned.
Please help us TODAY by making a donation to
the GWT MATCH FUND and watch your money grow. |
