The leaf
beetle Chrysolina americana has just been found in Caerleon,by Ian
Irving. The species is a recent colonist to Britain, having been found first
in London a few years ago, and it is now spreading through the south. It
specialises on lavender plants, and as a result it seems to be a beautiful
addition to our garden fauna which has no impact our native wildlife.
The
Trust would love to know of more sightings of this stunning little beetle.
