Barnwood Fields - Habitat Information

An informal survey of the site for the Barnwood Fields development gives the following information:

Fields Fields A and B are species rich pasture, a UK Priority Habitat.  They could also be used by ground nesting birds.

Fields C and D, the proposed development, are agriculturally improved.

Barn Possible bat roost.

Possible barn owl (the barn is close to a wood and grassland).

Woods Ancient semi-natural woodland is a UK Priority Habitat.

The woods contain badger setts and bats.

Pond Great crested newts have been recorded.
Corridors The stream is a wildlife "corridor" between two areas of woodland.  It seems suitable for water voles, otters and white clawed crayfish.

The ancient species rich hedgerows are also corridors.  The hedgerows will be covered by the Hedgerow Regulations.

The next stage is completion of a Biodiversity Impact Form.  See Part 2 for details of how to do this.
