Planning Application Consultations

Who gets consulted?

Each Local Planning Authority (LPA)  has a statutory duty to consult certain organisations on different types of application.

The LPA in Wales has a statutory duty to consult Countryside Council for Wales on all applications likely to affect a Statutory Site.

The LPA does not have a statutory duty to consult the local Wildlife Trust about Planning Applications.

However, local Wildlife Trust's are voluntary consultees and are able to play an important role advising LPA’s about the likely impacts of an application on biodiversity interests.

All members of the council are informed of planning applications in their ward. They may comment on an application within 21 days of receiving the Weekly Planning List.
