 Responding to Planning Applications 

Material considerations.

Any factors relating to a planning application are regarded as a material consideration in the planning process. The more material considerations - the less sound the application is likely to be.

Local Authorities must take account of all material considerations

• Policies within a Statutory Development Plans are a material consideration.

• Wildlife Laws are a material consideration.

Gwent Wildlife Trust would utilize appropriate policies and laws to argue its case for nature conservation in respect of a potentially harmful development.  These might include policies from the Statutory Development Plan on:-

• efficient use of land 

• landscape and natural beauty

• density of housing

• green belt

While such aspects may be within the remit of Gwent Wildlife Trust, organizations such as Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth (FOE) and Council for the Protection of Rural Wales (CPRW) may wish to comment on layout, design, energy efficiency, and infrastructure.
